How it works
The calculator derives joint volume from tile length and width, joint width and filled depth. Multiplying that volume by the editable mixed-grout density gives a weight per square metre, then area and allowance give the order weight.
Tile shape, rounded edges, compaction and cleanup change real coverage. Use the geometry for planning, but replace the density or compare the answer with the exact product coverage chart before buying.

How the Tile Grout Calculator works
This tile grout calculator derives joint volume from the tile and joint dimensions, then converts it into whole packs and optional material cost. Small tile and wide, deep joints correctly produce a higher rate than large tile with a narrow joint.
Tile size controls total joint length
One square metre of 100 × 100 mm tile contains roughly three times as much joint length as the same area of 300 × 300 mm tile. The formula uses both tile sides, joint width, filled depth and the editable mixed-grout density.
Enter the depth that will actually be filled. It is often close to tile thickness, but adhesive in the joint, rounded edges and a relief-backed tile can change the usable volume.

How much grout covers 20 m² of 300 × 300 mm tile? expand_more
At a 3 mm joint, 8 mm filled depth and 1.6 kg/l density, the rate is 0.256 kg/m². With a ten-percent allowance, 20 m² needs about 5.63 kg, or three 2 kg packs.
How much allowance should I add? expand_more
Ten percent is a reasonable planning start for uniform tile. Porous faces, textured edges, wide joints and cleanup loss can require more; the selected product instructions remain the final check.
