Calcrete calculation methodology
Calcrete estimates building-material quantities before purchase. Each calculator separates plain geometry from product consumption, allowance and package rounding so that you can inspect the path from measurements to the order quantity.
The result is a planning estimate, not structural design, a contractor's quotation or a replacement for the manufacturer's technical documentation. A qualified professional must assess structural capacity, code compliance and whether a specified system is suitable for the project.

What a calculator actually works out
An estimate starts with a measurable quantity: area, volume, length, unit count or a combination of them. Inputs are converted to one internal unit system before the geometry formula is applied. This prevents metres and millimetres, feet and inches, or mass and volume from being mixed silently.
The geometric result is then converted to material consumption. Depending on the product, that may use a rate per area and coat depth, finished yield per package, a nominal module or pack coverage. Product rates remain editable because the value on the selected bag, tin or technical sheet is more reliable than a universal preset.

Rounding and allowance stay visible
Materials are sold as whole bags, packs, rolls, sheets or tins. Calcrete calculates the requirement first, applies the stated allowance, and only then rounds the purchase quantity up. Intermediate results keep their precision so that several small rounding errors do not accumulate into a large over-order.
No allowance is universal. Layout, substrate condition, shape complexity, breakage, offcuts and workmanship all affect it. A preset is a planning starting point and should be changed to match the project.
Where rates and product data come from
Primary and official sources take priority: manufacturer data sheets and calculators, industry guidance, standards and documents from relevant professional bodies. Each calculator shows a review date and the links used for consumption rates, package yield, nominal dimensions or unit definitions.
A product's formulation, package, market and publication date can change its rate. The source supports the method and starting profile, but the calculator fields must still be compared with the current packaging or documentation for the product being purchased.
How formulas and pages are reviewed
Calculation arithmetic is kept outside the interface in TypeScript modules. Automated tests cover formulas, unit conversion, boundary rounding and representative examples. Before release, the project also checks types, code style, the production build and server-rendered HTML for every localized route.
The SSR checks confirm an H1, title, canonical URL, hreflang, structured data and visible content without client-side JavaScript. The sitemap is generated from published routes with managed lastmod dates, and internal links are checked automatically for 404 responses.
Limits and safe use
A browser calculator cannot observe substrate variation, moisture, compaction, complex junctions, the exact cutting layout or product-system restrictions. Unless a page explicitly says otherwise, it does not design reinforcement, assess soil, verify fire or energy requirements, or prove compliance with local codes.
Check site measurements, the selected product's technical sheet and the project specification before ordering. Structural work, stairs, foundations and other safety-critical decisions require a qualified professional; Calcrete is suitable only for preliminary material planning.
Updates and error reports
The date beside a calculator's sources records its latest substantive review. It changes when a formula, preset, explanation or source changes, not on every technical deployment. To report a discrepancy, send the calculator URL, inputs, expected result and the relevant product data sheet.
