How it works
Material weight equals floor area multiplied by average layer thickness and the product consumption for each millimetre of depth. The allowance is applied before the result is rounded up to full bags.
Self-levelling products have different minimum and maximum depths, yields and water ratios. Measure several points, use the exact rate printed on the selected bag and follow its primer and application instructions.

Use average depth, not the shallowest point
The minimum layer at the highest spot does not describe the complete floor. Take a grid of level readings across the area and enter the average fill depth; that average determines total volume and material weight.
Weight equals area multiplied by depth and the product consumption per unit of depth. The allowance is added before dividing by bag weight and rounding up to a purchasable number.
Floor leveller is not a thin screed
Self-levelling underlayment has a different depth range, yield and application method from cement screed, so the two products have separate calculators. Do not reuse a sand-cement rate here.
Check the selected product's minimum and maximum depth, pot life, water ratio and primer requirement. Those instructions depend on both the compound and the substrate.

How many bags cover 20 m² at 5 mm? expand_more
At 1.6 kg/m²·mm the net weight is 160 kg. With a five-percent allowance the order is 168 kg, or nine complete 20 kg bags.
Can I calculate from minimum layer thickness? expand_more
Not when the floor varies. The shallowest point understates total volume; use the average from several readings across the complete area.
