Gravel Calculator
Volume, optional weight and delivery allowance.
How it works
Volume is calculated from the selected geometry or quantity. Compaction and purchasing allowances are applied separately. Weight is only available when you provide density.

How the Gravel Calculator works
Use this gravel calculator for driveway stone, landscape beds and other measured fill areas. It calculates cubic yards from feet and inches, and converts to pounds or US short tons only when you supply the appropriate bulk density.
Calculate cubic yards from depth
A 20 ft × 10 ft rectangle at 3 in depth contains 20 × 10 × (3/12) = 50 ft³. Divide by 27 for 1.852 yd³ before allowance; adding 10% gives about 2.037 yd³. Measure the average finished depth when the base slopes.
Choose known area, volume or weight when you already have that quantity. A known-weight conversion still needs density. The calculator keeps US short tons of 2,000 lb distinct from metric tonnes of 1,000 kg.
Match density to the order
Bulk density includes voids between stones. Solid-rock density cannot turn a driveway volume into an accurate truckload weight. Ask the yard for the chosen product and moisture condition.
Enter a compaction addition only when it describes the same material and delivery condition. It is applied before the extra purchasing allowance. Estimate sand or pavers separately when they form other layers of the project.
FAQ
How much gravel covers 100 square feet? expand_more
At 3 inches deep, the net volume is 25 ft³, or about 0.926 yd³. A different depth changes the order proportionally.
Why is gravel weight blank? expand_more
No density has been entered. Volume is still valid, while a universal weight would misrepresent different stone products.
Does the price include delivery? expand_more
No. The optional price is per displayed volume unit, and only material cost is calculated.
